EOI now open for existing homes assessor training in 2026
Assessors who want to conduct home energy ratings for NatHERS for existing homes are being encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for no-cost training which is commencing in January.
The training supports a smooth industry transition to existing home ratings, with demand expected to grow from Stage 2 of the NatHERS roll out in mid-2026.
Places are limited, and only current assessors from the following programs are eligible to apply:
- ACT Energy Efficiency Rating
- NatHERS for new homes
Residential Efficiency Scorecard. A webinar run on 9 December 2025, provided information on the training, including timing, eligibility and the EOI process. A recording of the session will be published soon.
EOIs will close on Sunday 11 January 2026.
Consultation closing 19 December 2025
Have your say and contribute to our consultation (pdf/doc) on two proposed additional accreditation and training pathways for existing homes.
These pathways have been designed to maintain the reliability of ratings and assessments while supporting workforce expansion as demand increases for existing homes assessments.
Pathways proposed:
- a data collector pathway, enabling accredited data collectors to gather evidence for assessors to complete ratings and provide upgrade guidance.
- a company accreditation pathway, enabling businesses to manage training, professional development and accreditation of data collectors and/or assessors.
The proposed additions build on the delivery model agreed by Energy and Climate Change Ministers in March 2025.
